By changing over the title to electric, I get to avoid a potentially interesting discussion at the pollution inspection station. We don't have any other road tests or mechanical inspection requirements in Oregon. I did think it was strange that they didn't want any proof of my conversion. I just walked in and on my word alone, they changed the status with the warning that I better not get pulled over by the police and get caught with a gas motor in there.

Bureaucracy can result in some strange situations. Glad you figured out how keep your plates.Joeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01042435434585986098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3936311651117457138.post-13419818461698456062013-11-27T15:28:51.280-08:002013-11-27T15:28:51.280-08:00Hey Joey,
So it's all road legal -- congrats!...Hey Joey,

So it's all road legal -- congrats!

I have an "along those lines" situation... My insurance is due in June and I'm pretty sure my 911 will still be up on blocks when the insurance is due. That's also when the deadline is up for my AirCare (smog testing). Needless to say, I won't be making that deadline, so I'll have to go with no insurance. When the car is road-worthy, I'll have to get a 1-day permit so I can get my inspection done.

But when that time comes, I don't think it will be a quick "in-and-out of the DMV" for me, as I hear they have to give it a full road test before they approve it for re-insurance as an EV. Just the basics, though -- needs to steer, accelerate, stop, signal, headlights, etc. From what I gather, they don't care about things such as whether it is lead or lithium, BMS-free or not, and whether you are a licensed mechanic. Whew!!

I also thought I was going to lose my personalized "9-VOLT" plates, but last week that if I just let the insurance run out, that I can keep the plates. The weird thing is that if I cancel my insurance, I have to surrender the plates!
NorthVanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02779744170077639918noreply@blogger.com
